  • Creation Station

    Funded Dec 21, 2016

I can not thank you enough for the generosity you have shown to our class. The Magna-Tiles building and magnetic sets have provided hours of fun as children have constructed so many different things! This has encouraged cooperation and problem solving with my students. They have explored the attraction of magnets, planned building structures like little engineers and explored balance and gravity as they raced to see how high they could build!

I truly appreciate all of your support as I look for new ways to keep learning fun and engaging!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wathen

  • Learning Through Play

    Funded Nov 13, 2015

Thank you so much for supporting our pre-kindergarten class this year! It has been a joy to watch the children grow this year by engaging in play based learning. This has been possible thanks to your very generous donations!

We have added toys and writing activities to our dramatic play area. The children have played with baby dolls as they learn about being moms and dads. We have turned the dramatic play area into a store, a restaurant and even a pet shop. Students use reading and writing there as they engage with each other and the new activities that have been rotated to keep things fresh and exciting. Their language is expanding through conversations and play.

Thank you again for taking a part in this first year of school for so many of our children. We have built a strong foundation for academic skills and social skills that will be used throughout their lives.”

  • Creating Personal Space with a Classroom Carpet

    Funded Jan 19, 2015

Thank you so much for supporting out project: Creating Personal Space with a Classroom Carpet. The students were so excited when the giant carpet was delivered to our classroom!

This colorful classroom carpet is the anchor for our class meeting area. Students have their individual color blocked space for group instruction. The carpet helps our fidgety friends find their seat and be accountable for their personal space. This in turn helps us all stay focused during instruction and learning is maximized.

Students also enjoy the carpet during reading and math centers as it allows for an additional classroom area. Many activities need a larger space than a desk or table can provide. Students are able to work independently, with partners and in groups on these activities while having all the space they need.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wathen

  • Focus On Learning With Ball Chairs

    Funded Mar 25, 2014

I am thankful and humbled at the outpouring of support for our Focus On Learning with Ball Chairs Project! My students were beyond thrilled with five new balls. The students have noticed that the ball changes how they sit! One student exclaimed, "Look, the ball helps me sit up straighter!".

The students love the stability balls and now they have a option for seating. They appear more focused during our lessons. When students are actively engaged, true learning takes place!

We are so lucky that students can use the stability balls at their desks and at centers. I love that THEY notice a difference with the balls. Thank you for making this happen for our classroom.”

  • Bounce Into Learning With Ball Chairs

    Funded Feb 6, 2014

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your donation to our Stability Ball project. The joy on my students' faces as they opened the first box said it all. The balls are colorful and add a sense of fun to our classroom when you walk in!

Upon receiving our first 5 balls, the students shared the balls as each ball rotated around a group of desks. The students anxiously awaited their turn and was thrilled to have it. I noticed increased attention during whole group lessons. One of my students even shared, "Look Mrs. Wathen, the ball even helps me sit up straighter!" I have read the research and I had noticed the difference, but to hear a student recognize the difference the stability ball made in his learning was astonishing.

The stability balls are helping with posture as well as focus. The students appear to be more alert during lessons. The balls give them the wiggle room they need without them being disruptive. We are looking forward to completing our class set. Thank you again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wathen
