My kids live in a very rural, high poverty community. They come to school hoping to get away from the realities of home. They need a place to feel secure, nurtured, and loved - and for most of them, school IS that place. I love the fact that I can provide them some of the security and love they desire. Many of my kids come to school hungry and lonely, and many nights I go home worrying and praying for their welfare. They are eager learners, and strive to do their best. They love to be praised and encouraged, and it's such a joy to see their faces light up when they discover they've "gotten it". They are truly great kids!!
