The Power of Reading!
Funded May 2, 2023Thank you so much for your contribution to my class! Reading is super important, especially for children learning English. Having a well stocked and organized library is crucial within a classroom. Your contribution not only made our library look nice but also added to the children's excitement of being able to book shop. Our new bins house our books perfectly and are very appealing to the eye. Thank you so much for making my classroom library the best it has ever been and for helping me encourage literacy within my classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Alex
Hearing and Seeing Is Believing!
Funded Sep 29, 2022Technology is a very big part of our classroom routine. We view our morning announcements through our smart boards, we use computers during technology time, and we also use our tablets to help us read. Technology not only helps expands the minds of our students by exposing them to countless educational apps and programs that can be extensions of our lessons, but it also helps bridge the gap between our higher leveler learners and our ELL students.
I had decided to use headphones as the center theme of my donors choose project because many of my students do not speak English, and a way for them to become more exposed at home, as well as in school, is by having them be able to have someone speak to them in English while using their tablets. Many apps such as Razkids, iReady, Splashlearn, and google all have applications where the students can have something read to them. By each student having their own pair of headphones, they are receiving a more one on one connection with the material being shown to them. These headphones also help for when the students are no longer in school, but at home. Many of my students home lives are spoken in languages other than English. By having them use their headphones, they can continue the same exposure of the English language they receive in school, at home as well.
The funding of my project has made a huge impact in my class and my students are forever grateful. Thank you so much for taking the time to read into my project and assist me in making this year and incredible year for my students!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Alex
