  • Paint Sticks to Inspire Artistic Curiosity and Creativity!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you so much for donating the "Paint Stix" to my students at PS197Q The Ocean School in Far Rockaway, NY. The students are LOVING these new materials. The neon colors were a hit - the students made Galapagos iguanas, and they turned out beautifully. I especially love using these paint sticks with the younger grades as they are easier to handle for most compared to paint brushes. The older grades have made balloon dog drawings and added color, shadows and highlights with the paint sticks. Next we are going to try "heart art" for Valentine's Day. Thank you so much for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hutchinson

  • A Home for Crayons in the Art Studio

    Funded Aug 26, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation of crayon holders for the art studio at the Ocean School. These organizers have been a huge hit with the students.

One of the expectations in the art studio is "take care of the stuff!" And these crayon holders have helped the students do just that! Their crayons have a place rather than being tossed in a box. The colors are organized and the students enjoy sorting the crayons. Crayons are the most-used art material in the art studio so these organizers get a ton of use! Thank you so much for your kind donation.”

  • Art Materials for Young Artists

    Funded Jul 22, 2022

Thank you so much for the art materials. The students could not believe that people they don't even know sent them supplies - they are so grateful.

We have been using the solid tempera cakes often and the students love them. First graders made concentric circle art and painted them with the tempera cakes - the colors are vibrant! Third graders created clay turtles using the clay that was gifted to us. And fourth graders created "Balloons over Broadway" art using watercolor pencils and markers.

The students are always excited to try new materials and these materials have inspired them to create.

Future projects include self portraits using the skin tone tempera cakes and clay tacos. We will experiment with blending oil pastels, and add color to pencil drawings with watercolor pencils.

Thank you so much for donating materials to the students at PS197Q.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hutchinson
