Stem: Inspiring the Future Through Play

Funded Jun 28, 2022

Thank you so much for donation of STEM materials for my classroom! I was humbled and amazed at your generosity. As the only intermediate science and social studies teacher in my school, it is a challenge to find funds for projects such as materials for STEM when our students need so many things.

My students were so excited to see the Marble Maze, Brain Flakes, Pix Bricks, Straws and Connectors as well as the variety of building sets. I myself had no idea there were so many options for hands on learning! We started using them the second day of school (first week of August) and they haven't stopped yet! We are seeing an increase in problem solving skills and have fewer students who quit when things get hard. These materials allow students to work through challenges and even when faced with failure, they are not defeated but determined to make it work! This is a new "can do" attitude that we did not see much last year.

Burgin is a small rural school containing grades Pre-K through 12 in one building of approximately 500 students (80 of them come to me daily) and my hope is that STEM activities will provide them not only other avenues of learning and demonstrating knowledge but also stimulate their creativity, increase team building, and help them think outside of the box. My goal is to not only reach my students but to also connect our primary teachers to the wonderful world of STEM.

Thank you again for all that you do to help students and teachers!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Meade
