Funded Sep 29, 2022My co-teacher, students, and I are extremely thankful for the headphones and vocabulary materials. This school year we have been able to implement stations in which we focus on improving students literacy skills based on their individual reading levels. Our ICT classes are comprised of diverse learners and this allows us the opportunity to group students by different learning modalities. Half the class uses the headphones to engage with our classroom technology to learn literacy skills independently on educational websites often practicing the usages of prefixes and suffixes and their typing skills. The other half of the class works with a partner to complete their vocabulary practice cards in which they are able to practice skills such as context clues, synonyms, and antonyms. These skills help build better readers and writers. As you can see in the pictures, the students do not feel like they are working. They are enjoying the autonomy the stations give them, and it also allows for my co-teacher and I to pull students one by one to assess their fluency skills. I believe the best way to sum up our students appreciation is to mention that after the first time using this with our class, they excitedly asked if we could continue to engage in these activities every week, which we have happily done so.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Koxha
