  • Write From the Start in Preschool

    Funded May 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your contributions to our write from the start project. Our children are still learning to use writing utensils and control their hands. As a preschool classroom in a public school I have students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Providing a variety of fine motor activities in my classroom will allow students to develop pre-writing skills through many different instructional mediums.

The children have loved the supplies that we received.

**The play-doh and screwdriver sets have helped to strengthen their fingers and hands.

We can not thank you enough for what your contributions have meant to our classroom. We feel the chance to work on pre-writing skills is a great opportunity in school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lusk-Hauswirth

  • Calming Corner in Preschool

    Funded May 12, 2023

Thank you so much for your contributions to our quiet cube. It has been a busy place this week as we begin our new school year. We have had many of our sweet friends have big emotions about separating from their parents. Having the quiet cube has given them a safe space to go when they need a few minutes where they can be alone.

The children really enjoy this space that we have created. They are beginning to recognize how their body feels when they are experiencing big emotions. We are seeing more and more that children are excusing themselves and going to this space when they need a break. Of course, we are always close by to monitor them and offer help when they need it. As we introduce and explore the fidgets, books or breathing techniques, they will be able to work through their problems.

We can not thank you enough for what your contributions have meant to our classroom. We feel that the chance to work on managing big emotions in preschool, sets children up to be more successful when they get into the higher grades.”

    With gratitude,

  • A Small Space to Help Control Our Big Emotions

    Funded Jan 27, 2023

Thank you so much for your contributions to our quiet cube. Our children are still learning how to control their emotions. The quiet cube gives us a well defined space in our classroom where the children can go when they are feeling angry, upset or overwhelmed. We have worked to teach the children that this is a safe space for them to go to where they can be alone.

We are seeing more and more that children are excusing themselves and going to this space when they need a break. Of course, we are always close by to monitor them and offer help when they need it. However, most of the children in our class are able to go to the quiet cube, explore some fidgets, books or breathing techniques, and come back ready to work through their problems.

  • Junior Scientists

    Funded Sep 15, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. The children were so excited when I got out the new supplies for our classroom. We added one new item each week so that they would not be overwhelmed by a large amount of new materials all at once. Each week they would ask me what they were going to get to play with that week.

I was overwhelmed by the excitement that the children had for learning about science concepts. The children have using the magnetic kit on a daily basis. These were skills that I had not seen them practicing at all during their free play time. Of course, we introduce the ideas during our small group instruction but to see them practicing these skills on their own was the greatest gift to me.

The children use these materials regularly in their play to extend and enhance their learning. love seeing them have open access to the types of materials that get them thinking critically. Thank you again for the gift of inquiry that you have given our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lusk-Hauswirth
