Sensory and Art Station
Funded Feb 8, 2023I ordered an art easel and sand table. I wanted to create an outdoor classroom at my school where students can learn from nature in a natural environment. The outdoor classroom will be used by all grades from 3K to 5th grade. However, the easel and sand tables is used by 3K-2nd grade.
When the materials arrived, I had a second grade class help me set it up. They were very excited to be my assistants and even more excited to be the first ones to use the materials. They were happy and I noticed how creative second graders can be. I am glad to have been reminded of that.
I am grateful to all the donors who participated in helping me achieve my goals.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022You have made a big difference in my students' learning experiences. For that I want to say a big thank you. Our Circle Time Library is a huge hit. Upon arrival students were excited as much as I was to unwrap our packages. We had a moment to explore our easel and try it out in many ways. And we had a lot of fun trying it out. The bookshelf proved to be the convenience that I knew it would be.
First when the easel arrived, students were fascinated, and they wanted to draw on it. They played with it during center time. They used it with magnet letters and numbers. We drew pictures during center time. We use it when we have discussions and large groups. It has promoted so many literacy opportunities. The part I love most about the easel is that we use it daily to sign-in in the mornings. Everyday students come in and get a magnet letter for the first letter in their names. Then they would put that letter on the easel and using a dry-erase marker they would draw the first letters in their names. The reason I love this so much is because the easel has allowed us a way to consistently do this activity. Students have adapted to the routine, and I see their growth with this practice. They now recognize the first letters in their names and in their friends' names. And they know what to do. Most of them are now at a place where they are ready to start signing in with their full names. Thus, I have made them name tags with magnets on them that they can use to sign-in with.
When I first saw the bookshelf, I knew it would be perfect for my classroom. I currently work with three-year-old students. I wanted something that would be easily accessible to them during transition time and circle time. It is such a big convenience because children do not have to go all the way to the class library to get a book when they are in the circle area. It also allows me to display books easily where students can see the front cover of each book before selecting one. It is also helpful in the sense that when it is clean up time, students won't have to travel back and forth to the class library to return books. Students also have more access to books around the classroom and more opportunities to read and enjoy books.
I am very happy with my project. I am very grateful to my donors. I feel excited about all the opportunities and possibilities I and my students now have. I look forward to continuing to use these objects daily and with future students. This experience has also given me a chance to learn what teachers supporting each other can do. I am also very excited about supporting other teachers in achieving their project goals. This experience has taught me that teachers have visions and it's beautiful when someone else can support that vision and help it come true. So thank you. I appreciate what you have given me and my students.”
