Creative Play in 2nd Grade
Funded Jan 11, 2023As our 2nd grade year wraps up, I am reflecting on how thankful I am for your generous donations to our classroom! Basic supplies, such as whiteboard markers and erasers, go a long way. Students were able to show their thinking on their carpet squares, at their desks, and in small groups using these materials.
My class was so excited to receive these additions to the classroom and were especially excited to get crafty. The paint supplies made way for new creations and allowed students to take creative breaks during the long school day. Additionally, the materials we used for our recess centers, such as playdough and kinetic sand, allowed for exploratory learning and creative play.
Once again, thank you so much for your contributions to my classroom! It was an amazing year because of you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Benedicto
Soaring in Second Grade
Funded Jun 21, 2022In just three months, our classroom has turned into a bustling hub of reading, writing, music, Spanish, mathematics, and more. I myself cannot believe how quickly my students have adjusted to caring for our new "classroom family" and am continuously inspired by their excitement and engagement over new stories, characters, and literary worlds. THANK YOU for making this year possible.
We've discussed how "Love Makes A Family" and celebrated how coming from different backgrounds makes our class more interesting. We've made personal timelines and explored the contributions of our ancestors through "How Alma Got Her Name." We've been inspired to show ganas just like Areli in "Areli is A Dreamer." These second graders are giving it all they've got, soaking in so much knowledge and surprising me with the connections they make each and every day.
The day-to-day isn't perfect, but our entire class is genuinely touched by your kindness. The students diligently sort our paper trays, stack our books, and care for our materials because they understand that people who don't even know them believe in them and want to give them the best classroom environment possible. And now, onwards to field trips, parent conferences, report cards, and an end to the first quarter of school!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Benedicto
