Flexible Seating for Fifth Graders
Funded Nov 8, 2022My students have really enjoyed and benefitted from the wobble stools. They were so surprised to see the stools after winter break! A couple of my students even said to tell the donors, "Thank you so much!"
I am currently using the new stools for small reading groups. My students really enjoy sitting on them while we are doing our novel studies. The stools truly help them focus while still being able to fidget as they read.
I also have several students who have ADHD and focus issues that are greatly benefitting from the stools. If they are having a difficult time focusing, they grab a stool and find a flexible spot in the room to complete their work. They are able to focus so much better!”

First Year Teacher Filling Class Library
Funded Sep 24, 2022The completion of this project has greatly benefitted my classroom and my students. I have been incorporating the books I received from your generous donations into as many reading lessons as I can. In November, my students completed a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade project inspired by the book "Balloons Over Broadway." I read the book to my students, and then they were about to research information about the Macy's Day Parade, choose a float to complete their project on, and actually build their float after their research was finished.
I have used other books I received as read-alouds to introduce new topics in reading. For instance, I did a read-aloud on the book "The Recess Queen" to introduce character traits. My students absolutely loved listening to the book and reading about the main character, Mean Jean. They then chose another book from our library to read on their own and complete a character analysis.
These books have allowed me to engage my students and spark their interest.”
