Students' Success Through Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)
Funded Dec 30, 2024PBIS rewards positively impact student learning by reinforcing desirable behaviors and creating a more focused and supportive learning environment. By recognizing and celebrating students' achievements, we build positive relationships and trust, which improves students' behavior, focus, motivation, and engagement. As a result, my students feel more comfortable in class and are more willing to participate. PBIS encourages students to develop self-management skills by helping them recognize and repeat positive behaviors.
Our goal is to foster a multi-sensory educational experience that meets our students' diverse needs, interests, and abilities. We recognize that our students are unique, as they belong to one of the most vulnerable populations in the Bronx, NY. They are part of District 75, a special education district in NYC that promotes positive self-awareness and provides social-emotional support to help develop academic, communication, and life skills for maximizing individual student growth and independence. As a District 75 teacher, I am committed to delivering high-quality education that empowers our students to become socially responsive lifelong learners and active participants in their communities.
Thank you so much for your generous donation to fund our school's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) store. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and make a significant difference in promoting our students' success. Thank you!”

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for Non-Speaking Students
Funded Jul 18, 2024Using an iPad in therapy sessions has improved my student's learning experience. Some of my students who communicate minimally or nonverbally in speech therapy sessions can now engage more with peers using the iPad with specific communication applications like [CoupDrop and Snap]. They can use the iPad to ask questions and converse with peers. My students use customized vocabulary and symbols based on comprehension to promote more effective communication.
The iPad has facilitated peer interaction, allowing students to socialize and promoting inclusive group activity. Some of my students sometimes feel frustrated when having difficulties expressing their thoughts with peers. Now, with the iPad, students can convey their emotions and ideas and make choices, remarkably reducing frustrations and resulting in a calmer environment. This sense of achievement further motivates them to engage in therapy sessions. Thanks to the iPad donation, my students are becoming more comfortable and confident in communicating with their peers, evident in an increased willingness to engage in activities.”
