A Great Start for ‘22-’23!

Funded Aug 12, 2022

We have had a wonderful and busy beginning of the year! Classroom guidance lessons are in full swing with all students now, with the A Little Spot of... curriculum being a crucial piece for our students who struggle the most intellectually. While there may only be 6 students receiving these lessons, we have a fun time and these lessons are meeting them on their level and helping with life skills that will be necessary for some independence down the road.

We have kicked off with the A Little Spot of Feelings and Emotions curriculum, and will be transitioning into the A Little Spot of Life Skills and Actions curriculum soon. The students that are receiving this instruction have a challenging time reading, so I read aloud to them all and we work together to discuss and create.

We were able to create what we were reading about through coloring, but by also making Scribble Spot crayons! I never get tired of talking about different emotions and how sometimes it's a challenge to put feelings into words with ALL of my students, so I'm happy that this underserved community at my school is being reached at their level. I look forward to the many more lessons to come!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Ash
