Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you for your kind support with materials for our grow your own food project. Because of your generous donations, a new generation of kids now have the knowledge and experiences to grown food plants from seeds.
The students were amazed by the process of seed starting. They first filled the greenhouses with soil and watered them. Each child poked the hole they would need in the soil, then they added one seed per pod. The kids were shocked at how easy it was to start the seeds in this process. When they came back to check the seeds a week later they were astonished that a small plant was now in the same pod they originally placed the seed in.
Our next steps will be to remove weeds from the gardens and turn the soil up a little to receive the transplants. Our first plants to be transplanted will be collards and cabbage, since these are more frost resistant. At the beginning of May, our final transplants will go into the gardens as well.
Thank you from the depths of my heart for providing these materials. You have blessed me the opportunity to pass along my skills and passion for vegetable gardening to a younger generation of gardeners.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bacon
