Making Financial Literacy Real
Funded Sep 16, 2022My students learned a great deal about the Psychology of Money from reading chapters of Morgan Housel's book. Each student was to select and read one chapter. They, then had to decide how they would present their information to the rest of the class as the "expert" on that chapter. Some chose to create a slide show presentation. Some chose a poster. Others chose to just give a speech.
I was very impressed with what they took away from their chosen chapter and were able to relate to their classmates. They were able to do a good job of explaining what the chapter was about and what lessons they learned from that chapter.
When I first made the assignment, the students worried that they would need to read the entire book for their chapter to make sense. However, once they started reading, they soon realized that each chapter was a story of its own and they didn't need to read the entire book for it to make sense. I got an email from one parent that their child FINALLY found a book they WANTED to read and that student read the entire book.”
With gratitude,
