Supportive Supplies
Funded Dec 6, 2022Thank you for supporting my classroom. The supplies will go a long way in helping my students to reach their academic potential. As a teacher of a special education class, supporting my students academically requires a lot of supplemental materials. They need scaffolded and differentiated materials to help them access the math and science curriculums. With the supportive supplies that were donated, I am able to differentiate and scaffold the skills being taught by creating anchor charts, a word walls, and notebook inserts, that support them in taking accountability in their learning and which also supports them at home.
In science, students need to understand how stuff works in the real-world as a way to help them to understand how germs work and how they are all over the place in a real-world context. I will use the ultra violet black light to show them. This also ties into learning about the microbiome and how people get sick.
Overall, the supportive supplies will help my students tremendously. Working with the special education population isn't easy because students do not always understand how stuff translates to the real-world and these supportive supplies will help them to understand that concept and how it ties into their academics a lot better. And I as well as my students thank you for supporting us in our classroom endesvors.”

Funded Nov 7, 2022In science, we are working on metabolism. Having parts of the human anatomy helps my students to see the parts of the body and how it is affected when it doesn't get the proper nutrients it needs when eating the wrong foods and when the body has pre-existing conditions. When they first saw the anatomy kits they were excited to see how the body looks beneath the skin and skeletal system and they became eager to use it to understand the science unit we are currently working on. The next steps for my students is not only understand yes that this the science curriculum that we learn in school but it is also the world around us and inside of us that sometimes we may take for granted. By seeing how the body reacts to the food we eat, hopefully they will take a healthier approach to the food they eat as well and treat the enviornment better. Thank you so much for funding our classroom project, we are extremely grateful!”
