  • Projector Magic: Interactive And Engaging Lessons

    Funded Aug 27, 2024

This projector has made our math lessons come alive! We can see how our peers solve problems and we get new ideas to help us understand the word problems better! Now everyone can see what we are working on, even those who sit in the back of the room .

My students' understanding of the math curriculum has increased because we can share so many different ways to solve a problem. Students are taking more control of their learning because they are the ones to go up to the whiteboard and explain their thinking to the class step by step.

We read stories and project the books on the whiteboard and everyone can see the pictures and the tiniest details in them. The projector has made learning more fun and easier for everyone in our class.”

  • Stocking the Classroom Store!

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

Thank you for contributing to my project. My class was very excited when we had our first classroom store. The flashing rings and fidget toys sold out within minutes! My students learned a lot. They counted out money and budgeted their earnings for the next store. The store also allows my students to practice their math skills (counting by 5s, 10s, and 25s, finding out how much money they should get back, etc.).

Instead of completing worksheets my class experienced a hands-on, authentic approach to learning about money. Earning money and being able to shop at the classroom store has also helped my students in other ways around the classroom. It also motivates them to do their classwork as well.

Thank you again for donating to my project.”

  • Earning and Spending Money Wisely

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Thank you for contributing to my project. My students were very excited when we had our first classroom store. They practiced counting money and budgeting their earnings for the next store. They were thrilled to be able to buy bendy pencils, emoji pencils and mini notebooks using money they earned themselves for making good choices at school. Instead of completing worksheets to learn about money, my class is able to experience a hands-on approach that is very rewarding, authentic, and fun. This project also teaches valuable life skills (spending wisely, saving, sharing, etc.) They now ask me every day when we are having the next store!”

  • Earning and Spending Money: Making Wise Decisions!

    Funded Jul 12, 2021

I wish you could have seen the look on my students' faces when they opened up all of the packages of items for our classroom store! My class earns play money throughout the week for completing work, good behavior, etc. At the end of each month we have a classroom store in which they can buy the items they want. They learn how to recognize coins, how to use money, figure out how much change they should receive back, and learn about spending money in general. They also learn how to save and spend wisely. The classroom store provides my class with valuable skills that they will need for the rest of their lives. This is a much more hands-on way of learning about money than completing worksheets. Thank you so much for giving my classroom this experience!”

  • Earning, Spending, and Giving in Return!

    Funded Jul 2, 2019

Thank you very much for your generous contribution to our financial literacy project! As a result, I was able to start off the year with a bang. My students were eager to learn more about needs, wants, saving, purchasing, and giving back to others.

There was a lot of excitement when our first store was held and students got to select prizes from money earned. At the same time they practiced counting money and budgeting their earnings for future purchases. The nicest part is we are also saving some of the money earned to do a kindness project in the future. We are still in the process of planning this, but I think it will have a big impact on everyone involved.”

  • My Students Will Be Flipping Out Over Their Reading!

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

Thank you all so much for your thoughtful contributions to our class project! This Flip camera is just the coolest thing and it's so easy to use!

It arrived just a few days before our Poetry Slam, so we were able to use it right away. It's a great tool to give feedback to the students about their performance and is also a great way to share our accomplishments with parents that cannot attend our performances.

Thus far, we have used it to record the students reciting poems and performing a Reader's Theater, but I am sure we will find many more uses in the future!”
