• Who Said Romance Was Dead?

  My students have been checking out the new romance novels constantly! They are also telling their friends all about the books they've read, which have made my circulation numbers surge.

  This specific book grant was special because it centered romance and love, which is so central to teens's daily lives. Additionally, I was able to purchase a few book series, and the students are mapping out their reading plans quite strategically!

  As a a librarian, it's been so amazing to see so much enthusiasm for books and reading. Romance is one of my favorite genres, so I have had many great conversations with students about books we love and want to read.

• Laptop for a Librarian!

  Thank you for supporting my classroom project, Laptop for a Librarian. Due to your generous contributions, I was able to purchase badly needed supplies for my classroom and library.

  The impact of this funding has been enormous and wide ranging, as I was able to be more mobile in the library floor with my students to assist with book check outs and research requests on the spot, and without being tethered to my desk, as I had been with my desktop.

• Headphones for Personalized Learning!

  Funded May 24, 2024

  I cannot overstate the value of providing access to headphones for the library patrons at my school. Seeing people grab a pair of headphones whenever they need them is akin to having them checkout a library book they've been waiting to read. It truly warms my heart!

  In my opinion, libraries are resource centers. And, headphones are resources that so many of our patrons need to maximize their learning experiences, that also afford each user the privacy and ability to focus on their needs while they work, while simultaneously maintaining an environment where every individual has the space to explore and learn without being disturbed or distracted by

  others.

  The impact of providing headphones for our students means that each student can cultivate their learning experience in the way that suits them best, whether they are listening to music, listening to audiobooks, or streaming videos.

  This project will have a lasting effect on our community. Thank you to our generous donors for making this possible!”

• No Fake News Here

  My students have had an absolute blast enhancing their interview skills using their new tripods and phone light. These tools made them feel like real journalists, and did so much to boost the morale of our classroom.

  It's one thing to teach students about journalism, and even have them write stories, but to give them the chance to use the same tools as the professionals, is priceless. As they interviewed stakeholders in our school to boost their stories, they gained a newfound appreciation for journalists and storytelling.

  Although students regularly use technology, such as their phones, tablets, and personal computers, they had fun learning to use the instant Polaroid cameras and waiting for their photos to develop, something a world removed from the instantaneous photography they engage in with their cellphones.

  I can't thank you enough for donating to our project. It has made quite an impact on our classroom.”
