  • Art Options for My Students

    Funded Mar 3, 2025

Thank you so much for the support to keep our classroom filled with creativity and art! My students will be so surprised that I will be able to refill the markers, and the art that they create is so adorable and impressive for their age.

Thank from a grateful fourth grade class!”

  • Color Printing for My English Language Learners!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

I just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you for your generous donation of a color printer and ink. It has already made such a huge difference in our classroom, especially for our English Language Development (ELD) students!

Being able to print in color has completely changed the way we teach important concepts like comparing and contrasting, descriptions, and so much more. Having visual supports is a game-changer for students who are still developing their English skills, and your gift is making lessons so much more engaging and accessible. It's helping to break down language barriers and giving our students the tools they need to succeed.

Beyond just academics, this has brought excitement into the classroom! Our students are more engaged, and it's amazing to see them interacting with materials in a whole new way. We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity—you've truly made an impact on our school community.

Thank you again for supporting our students and for making such a meaningful difference. We appreciate you!”

    Ms. Sykes

  • Snacks and Backpack Blessings

    Funded Dec 27, 2024

I just wanted to send a big thank you for the amazing snacks you provided for our classroom! Not only are they nutritious and delicious, but they've also made such a difference in our daily routine.

Having these snacks gives us a chance to sit down and eat together as a class, which has really helped bring us closer as a group. It's been so nice to have that little break to chat, relax, and build a stronger sense of community.

On top of that, the snacks have been a lifesaver while we wait for our very late lunch. Instead of struggling to focus because they're hungry, the kids have something healthy to keep them going, and it's made a huge impact on their energy and concentration.

We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity—it means so much to all of us. Thank you for thinking of us and for making our days a little brighter (and tastier)!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sykes

  • OBOB Book Copies for All Students!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

On behalf of our students and staff, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the books provided for our Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) competition. Your generosity has had an incredible impact on our students, fostering a love for reading and deepening their appreciation for literature in ways we never imagined.

The excitement surrounding this year's competition has been truly inspiring. Students have been diving into the books with enthusiasm, engaging in discussions, and sharing their thoughts on the diverse stories they've encountered. The variety of genres included in the selection has given our students an opportunity to explore books they might not have picked up otherwise. They are not just reading to compete; they are reading for enjoyment, discovery, and growth.

One particularly touching example is Abigail, a student who was initially hesitant about reading books outside of her comfort zone. She confided in us that she typically sticks to one genre, but OBOB has encouraged her to take a chance on books she wouldn't have considered before. To her surprise, she has found new favorites among them and has even recommended books to her peers. Seeing students like Abigail embrace reading in new and unexpected ways is exactly what makes this program so impactful.

Additionally, the inclusion of graphic novels has been a game-changer for many of our emergent readers. These visually engaging books have provided a gateway for students who may have been reluctant readers or struggled with comprehension. We have seen students who previously avoided books now eagerly turning pages, discussing plotlines, and even seeking out additional books outside of the competition.

Beyond the individual impact on students, the Battle of the Books has created a sense of community among our young readers. They are not just reading in isolation but are coming together to discuss their favorite moments, debate their interpretations, and cheer each other on. Watching them collaborate, encourage one another, and celebrate the joy of reading has been an uplifting experience for our entire school community.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support. Your contribution has helped foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for literature in our students. The impact of these books goes far beyond the competition itself—these stories are shaping young minds, opening doors to new ideas, and creating lifelong readers.

Thank you again for your kindness and commitment to promoting literacy. We appreciate your support more than words can express, and we look forward to continuing to inspire young readers through the Oregon Battle of the Books program.”

    With gratitude,

  • Help Me Create a Warm and Inviting Classroom Environment!

    Funded Jun 15, 2024

Thank you for this donation. The classroom rug and lamps have been integral to our success as a class this season. I finally have enough space for all of my students on the carpet to have community time! This is by far one of the best gifts I could have gotten.

I am also enjoying the kids being able to spread out and play games comfortably on the floor during free time, or sit and learn to crochet during indoor recess. In a bittersweet moment, a child, whose parents made him come to school sick, slept for a few hours very comfortably on the floor!

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sykes

  • Help My Sweet Students Succeed Despite Budget Cuts!

    Funded Feb 23, 2024

Your contribution to this project has made a huge difference for some of my students, and a relief in contributions for me and my students.

I am now able to-instead of spending time prepping- spend time reading with two of my students who are not confident readers. We are moving onto the third set of books already, and these kiddos are amazing. They have gone from stumbling over all words to being able to read the books mostly independently!

One student, M, begs me to read with him everyday and is just a total sweetheart! He is working so hard and it shows! He loves these books too, and wants to take home his own set.

The snacks are a huge relief for me and the students when they come to school a little hungrier than they can manage. A few times, the offer of a special snack has saved a melt-down or burst of anger.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sykes
