  • We Learn Best When Our Needs Are Met!

    Funded Aug 13, 2023

Our 5th graders are dealing with new freedoms, choices, and responsibilities. At our school, they have the option as 5th graders to join band and athletics. With these additional pressures, students can feel anxious and nervous. Students want to succeed and be successful in all areas. Receiving this grant has been a huge help to meeting their basic needs, and has assisted them in feeling confident in the changes and emotions they are experiencing.

Students have frequented the OOPS drawer to utilize deodorant, toothbrushes, and face wipes following athletics and PE. These items have helped students feel more confident in their day. During open house, students showed parents the resources they had for their personal needs. Parents were appreciative that we were meeting the needs of the whole child.

Having the "ball chairs", as the kids call them, has been a wonderful addition to the learning environment. They all wanted to use the tools that were gifted us, and slowly the change has occurred that they are only using what they truly need to be comfortable. Honestly the straws to chew on have probably been the biggest hit.

Thank you again for providing these supports for our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Briggs
