Help Us Settle Our Minds with Glitter Bottles!
Funded Jan 12, 2024Our Galaxy Glitter Bottles are truly the gift that keeps on giving! These tools help us remember to be mindful throughout our busy day in fifth grade and they are just plain AWESOME! The anticipation was fun to watch build after box after box of our Donors Choose supplies continued to show up in our classroom. We decided that Valentine's Day would be the perfect day to celebrate Senator Kohl's legacy and complete our bottles.
The reaction to your generous gift was fun to observe! Our students could not believe that there are people out there cheering them on by providing resources for inspirational projects like this. My two co-workers are not big fans of glitter, but powered through somehow to bring this experience to their students as well as those in our Hasse Posse. The things that I appreciated the most about this project is that all of the materials were provided for the students, nothing was left to chance. This allowed ALL students to be successful in the Galaxy Glitter Bottle Lab!
Our students are currently engaged in our Breaking the Box: The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright Project where they are learning by doing and developing their fantastic, elastic brains in new and exciting ways! Thanks again for your support!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Herb Kohl Philanthropies.5th Grade National Park Ranger Project
Funded Feb 18, 2023Thank you so much for the legacy gift you donated to the Jr. Park Rangers of Wakanda Elementary. It is that time of year again where our students will again by narrowing down their list of parks to take to our Selection Circle later on this month. The books contained in your generous gift are for all ranges of readers just like our National Parks are for all people. Teaching with stories ranks as one of our top strategies Kids and nature are a winning combination in any season!
The 5th Grade National Park Ranger Project began over twenty years ago and has been thriving ever since. It is a prime example of the life-changing power of project-based learning. Our National Park Project gives our kids a chance to dream outside the boundaries of Dunn County and imagine life beyond school, whatever that may be. We have received countless social media posts, emails, letters, postcards, and photographs from our students both past & present when they finally make it to the parks they researched in Grade 5 at Wakanda Elementary. The resources you provided will allow us to continue our work in creating the next generation of national park stewards. Thank you for being a part of our National Park Project legacy!”

Breaking the Box
Funded Mar 3, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Wakanda 5th Grade Innovation Stations! These stations are where our young architects go for inspiration, knowledge, and ideas as they progress through our Breaking the Box: The Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright Project. The collection of resources you donated will help the architects meet the needs of their clients during each step of our design-thinking process. Being able to enhance our classroom libraries with the latest books on Frank Lloyd Wright at each stage of his prolific career allows our students to dream as big as he did! The graph paper & templates will be used to create floor plans drawn to scale to our Math Workshops. Your gift allows us to teach & learn like architects, dissolving the traditional walls of the classroom to bring our students an experience like none other! Thank you for generously supporting us in our work!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Hasse
