Dreaming in Color Copies
Funded May 26, 2023Thank you so much for your donations, the color printer in my classroom has been a huge success! In the past my presentations that I project to the class have been in color, but any printed material was always copied in black and white. I think I was able to get the point across, however, it was just not very engaging for students.
However, since your donation I have been able to print material for students in color, which students are really liking. My students have mentioned that it makes it easier for them to understand and remember the material when they are able to see it in color, which is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish with this project.
In writing we have been focusing on the different components of essay writing. The color printer has made it easier for students to clearly see the distinct parts of a paragraph and essay. By using color students are able to easily see how the introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion are connected together. With the template I provided them in color they were better able to independently write complete and cohesive paragraphs, which was a challenge in years past.
In math I have used the color printer to give students an order of operation guide to help them remember PEMDAS. It is clear to me that some of my more visual students are loving the new color printer since now they can see class material in color. I am excited to continue to be able to use this color printer throughout the school year to provide students with colorful material that will enhance their learning.”

Funded Aug 18, 2022I would like to start off by saying thank you! Thank you for your generosity and donation to my classroom. During the pandemic my students spent hours on a computer, as teachers, parents and students tried to adjust to their new way of teaching and learning virtually. When they returned to the classroom I noticed they were yearning for group activities and lessons that were more interactive. I have always used the curriculum provided by the district, but I quickly realized that students need supplemental material to make the curriculum more engaging.
Thanks to your donations I was able to purchase lots of activities on Teacher Pay Teachers to help my students work interactivity with their peers, while still learning and developing their reading comprehension and literacy skills. I was able to purchase material that was specific to holidays like Halloween to teach them about reading comprehension. I also purchased an activity where they worked with a partner on a Hispanic Heritage Month Flag (they were very excited to present their flags to the class). This activity required them to research the person and summarize the information they had read.
With your donation I was also able to give my students reading comprehension questions that tied in perfectly with our classroom novel, Wonder. Since purchasing supplemental materials with your donations students are more excited to read, think critically, highlight important information and work with their peers. They are all looking forward to more collaborative activities in history and science as well. All of these fun, but Common Core aligned lessons would not have been possible without your donation. Thank you.”

Headphones for Curious Scholars!
Funded May 7, 2022Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. These headphones have definitely come in handy this school year. Our school district has provided our classroom with Chromebooks that students can use in the classroom, however, we did not have any headphones available so that students could access all of the websites, applications and curriculum that they have available on their school portal. This donation allowed me to obtain a class set of headphones that students are able to use when they access their day to day activities. Specifically, these headphones have allowed me the ability to differentiate instruction depending on the student. For example I can assign some students one lesson and other students a different lesson without them realizing that their peers may be working on higher or lower level work.
My students were really excited to be able to work independently and at their own pace. No longer did they have to turn their audio off and just listen to my computer. They also mentioned that they enjoyed the ability to work on a separate assignment if they finished early. These headphones allowed them the flexibility to switch from one assignment to the next without having to wait for the whole class. Overall, these headphones have made learning more fun and engaging for my students.
Initially, students were not that excited to use their school provided Chromebooks because they understood that the sound would need to be turned off or turned down very low. Learning on their applications, website, and curriculum was just not as fun because they were not able to fully engage and connect with it. However, now I can see the excitement in their face when I tell them that it's time to use their computers and headphones. This donation of headphones will not only help this class, but will also help the classes to come. So, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You!”
