  • The Power of Phonics

    Funded Jul 6, 2023

Thank you once again for your generous donation. With your help, my students will be able to develop a much needed skill in life. Phonics allows young readers to develop their reading comprehension. With practice, pupils' decoding skills become so automatic that they are able to concentrate on and easily understand the overall meaning of what they are reading. Phonics also raises children's phonemic awareness.

These materials will assist my students with hearing and identifying and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another in the English language. Written language can be compared to a code, so knowing the sounds of individual letters and how those letters sound when they're combined will help my students decode words as they read.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Renfroe

  • Keeping it Cool in Summer School

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous contribution to our project. My students looks forward to Fun Friday every week because of your donation. My students created a math lesson using a bar graph to see what is the school's favorite snow cone flavor for the week.

When my students first saw the materials they were shocked. One student said, "Is this for us?" I replied, "yes". I explained to them that wonderful donors decided to donate to our project. I've never heard cheers so loud in my life.

Our up coming lesson is sequence writing. My students have to write about how can we make snow cones at home without a machine or maker. My students have to write a step by step sequence instruction guide using the words First, Next, Then and Finally in their writing on how the create the perfect snow cone at home without using a machine or maker.”

  • Crochet and Knitting Club

    Funded Jul 13, 2022

Thank you once again for your generous donation. Due to your donation my students have learned how to make a scarf and now they are currently learning how to make an hat. This class project has taught my students the power of patients and taking their time. My students also implied sequence structure when working on their scarf.

My students was confused and surprised when they first saw the materials. some of them had no clue what a crochet hook looked like or even what it is used for; and the other students remember seeing me crochet in school. I explain to them I wanted to start up a Crochet and Knitting Club and generous donors donated these supplies to help us get started. The loud sound of cheering indicated I thought of an amazing club.

I've asked my students what our next project should be after they finish making their hats, and they suggested we make hats and scarves for the less fortunate. This suggestion blow me away. I'm so proud of every last one of them. They are amazing kids with hearts pure of gold.

Thank you so much for your donation.”
