Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!
Funded Apr 30, 2022This project has helped my students tremendously! With these funds, I was able to purchase several different resources for my students. These resources were important in order to build my students' phonological awareness. By building my students' phonological awareness, this impacted my students' reading abilities. Students' could transfer skills related to letter/sound correspondences as well as segmenting and blending words as they were reading texts independently.
Some of the resources that I purchased included: fun games where students had to identify the beginning sound in a word, blending and segmenting cards, engaging word sorts, as well as alphabet readers and decodable texts. I was able to use these resources with a range of different learners. My students who are English Language Learners benefited from creating their own alphabet books and my students who are at-risk learners benefited from games which allowed them to have continuous exposure and repetition with specific skills.
I am most excited that I get to keep these resources and reuse them with my students in the future! This will help more of my students build their phonological awareness and impact their reading success.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Christina
