Having this project funded will go a long way to providing challenging and high-interest novels for my students to study in depth. I'm requesting copies of Monster and When You Reach Me. The format of the novel Monster makes it an intriguing and rigorous analysis (a script). I use Lit Circle writing responses and group discussions to assist them in learning how to deeply analyze novels. Far too often students don't have the opportunity to ask one another questions about the books they are reading. By having class sets of novels, this obstacle is no longer there. I can only imagine the excitement the students will feel when they discover we have a new novel to dissect.
