  • Support Listening Learners in Becoming Leaders

    Funded Sep 12, 2023

Thank you, thank you! My students are going to be thrilled to be able to hear their stories with two working ear pieces! These donations will make a significant impact on the language development of my students. With online learning platforms designed to target individualized learning goals, working headphones will provide equitable access to all of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Perez

  • Supporting Literacy Through Exciting Article Subscriptions

    Funded Dec 21, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting literacy through article subscriptions! The physical articles allow students to easily access literature to support various skills. With the same text available to every student, students are able to develop their vocabulary and reading comprehension by directly interacting with the text. With an extremely diverse population of English Language Learners in my classroom, students are able to preview their readings and identify unfamiliar academic vocabulary by directly engaging with their text. Students are also able to learn about text features and apply their knowledge from these features, to support understanding. These articles support my various learners in a multitude of ways.

In my classroom, students are grouped by similar reading levels and work together to meet differentiated learning goals. Accessing these articles will support me in teaching and supporting different reading levels. The images, readings, interviews, and captions within the articles function as various tools that can be utilized to target specific learning goals. While students might all be focusing on the same passage, I am to use the images and captions throughout the passage to differentiate learning. Given the immense shift to technology in education, these articles have become a classroom favorite!”

    With gratitude,

  • Take a Seat. It's Time For Literacy!

    Funded May 14, 2022

Thank you for your act of kindness! Having flexible seating options in the classroom creates an inclusive learning environment, especially with the immense diversity in my classroom. The four flexible chairs are used daily during reading centers, used as a calm corner in the library, and used as a positive reward in the classroom. The essential function of these flexible seats was to create a positive learning space where students would be encouraged to read more, however, their utilization has had many more positive applications.

During reading centers, reading on a blue chair is a class favorite! Every student looks forward to the library center in which students get to read comfortably. All of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and do not have many opportunities to enjoy a book on a cool and comfortable seat. The addition of four flexible seats has created a positive and safe space where my students can read and really develop their literacy skills. We cannot thank you enough for caring and supporting our literacy goals!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Perez
