The Room is Ready to Shine!
Funded Aug 10, 2024I can't believe it is November and we just recently passed our 50th day of school! It has already been a very busy school year and we are learning more and more each day.
Thank you again for your generous donations. Without them I'm not able to get all of the supplies I use to help my students be successful. We have learned to stay organized in our notebooks and folders and we have been able to use our whiteboards every morning to practice our math problems. It always amazes me when I walk around my classroom and see the kids practicing the habits I taught them in August. They are on their way to becoming super scholars.
You are simply the best.”

The Watsons Go to Birmingham
Funded Dec 3, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donations to my students. We have not started the Watsons as we are still deep into "Bud, Not Buddy". We are so excited knowing that we still have this great piece of literature to read in the future.
My students have developed a great appreciation for Christopher Paul Curtis' work through "Bud, Not Buddy". I am hopeful that when we read the Watsons, the kids will develop an even greater appreciation for his work. Additionally, my hope is that these 2 books spark an interest in reading for pleasure.
Thank you again for caring about my students.”

Funded Nov 29, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my students in their math growth this school year. They are still so eager to learn more and they love a little healthy competition through our new math games.
Their favorite game has been multiplication and division BINGO. They are so excited to win a game that I am not sure they realize they are actually simply practicing their multiplication and division facts. They ask if we can play it everyday.
There are so many ways for the kids to show their learning and I am thrilled to be able to let them show their learning in these math games you have all made possible.”

Funded Oct 12, 2023We are still reading "Bud, Not Buddy" as I've been treating it like a book club. I cannot begin to properly explain how rewarding this has been for my class. We have such involved conversations about Bud and the other characters. The kids ask me daily if we are going to have time to read that day. They are making inferences about what's to come for Bud and they love to be chosen to read aloud to the class. We are practicing reading with different tones of voice.
Because this has been such a success, I ordered another Curtis book, "The Watsons go to Birmingham" for when we finish Bud's story. We even found a book I did not know about based on a character from Bud. One of my students received this other book for Christmas. My heart melted.
Thank you for providing such excitement for reading for my students. I am forever grateful.”

Funded Sep 3, 2023I wanted to share pictures of our classroom after a long day of learning. Our routine is to clean up every inch of the room to be ready for our next day of learning. I am so proud of the kids for taking pride in this space where we spend so much time.
I am so grateful to you for helping to provide us with the supplies necessary to keep our space clean and organized. It has been such an important lesson for the kids that we prepare our space for each new day by taking the time to clean. Thank you so much for caring about my students.”

Funded Aug 30, 2023My students were so grateful for their brand new school supplies. They have taken ownership of their belongings with great pride. We use our notebooks every day to organize our learning. I look forward to a time at the end of the school year when the kids can look back at all the learning they did this school year. I know they will be so incredibly proud of themselves.
Thank you so much for caring about my students. They are so fortunate to have people care about them and support their continued success.”

Funded Dec 20, 2022We have been hard at work in room C7. I have included some photos of our work from Open House and our notebooks that are filled with our knowledge. The supplies we got thanks to your generous donations have been invaluable to our learning and success.
The kids were so grateful learning that they had brand new supplies to help them with their 4th grade learning. They often cannot believe that people who have never met them care so much about them.
We are so thankful to you all for your generosity.”

4th Grade Book Club
Funded Sep 30, 2022We started "Charlotte's Web" when we returned from break. The kids all got their very own copy they will be able to keep when we are done. This part has been the most exciting for them.
We are reading together every day and the kids all want to read aloud. I have not seen this level of enthusiasm for any other story this year and I know it is because the book is theirs.
I cannot thank you all enough for your generous donations. Students complain so often that they hate to read, but the truth is, they have never read a book that they loved. Having ownership has made such a huge difference for my students and they excitedly talk about the book everyday. It's the gift that has kept on giving.”

Getting Organized
Funded Aug 28, 2022We have used our new notebooks to keep us organized in math and writing. My students have learned the importance of keeping out notes together in order to refer back to them when they are needed.
My students were so thrilled to get new materials that belong to them. While we are still working on treating our supplies with more respect, we definitely have an understanding of how to organize inside the books.
Our next steps are to work more on treating our supplies with respect. We still lose things easily so we will practice keeping our supplies in one place and keeping our space neat. It all takes time, as I'm sure you know.
We are so grateful for your generosity and for caring about our learning.”
