  • Diverse Students Deserve Diverse Books

    Thank you so much for your generous contribution. We loved receiving a class set of Three Keys by Kelly Yang. This book is so important because it allows students to feel seen in literature.

    The students were very engaged and excited to hear the continued story of Mia, Lupe, Jason and the hotel.

    This book also served as an excellent tool for teaching and reviewing metaphors and similes. Mia, as a narrator, uses simple and approachable language that allows the students to relate and understand these figurative language devices.

    Immediately after finishing Three Keys, they asked for us to read the third installment in the series.”

  • Book Bans Have No Place in Schools

    Your donation has already reached over 100 students at Pacific Elementary! We have been able to read the book aloud and as a class in multiple classrooms. Students are always sharing how they love the story and they can connect to the characters and see themselves in the story.

    Front Desk is also wonderful for teaching 5th grade ELA standards as it does such a wonderful and relatable job of using similes and metaphors.

    My students are all asking when we can get the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th book in Kelly Yang's amazing series! So I think I know what my next Donors Choose project will be!”
