Cricut Mugs, Shirts, & Totes for Chorus
Funded Mar 4, 2024What an impact our new Cricut supplies is making in our school and in our community! My students were thrilled when they learned that our project was fully funded and that we have supplies for our Cricut machine to create community service projects and chorus projects.
The 113 members of Trafford Middle School's Chorus are working hard in December to spread kindness and cheer to the community's veterans and senior citizens.
Through our grant we received numerous Cricut supplies to create community service and music advocacy projects.
In one project, our group created tumblers to present to Trafford Veterans to show its gratitude for their service to our country. The chorus members enjoyed making these projects but more importantly, understood the importance of spreading kindness to others. We are currently working on Veterans Day shirts to present to our community Veterans at this year's upcoming Veterans Day performance!
Thank you for making this dream a reality!”

Funded Sep 15, 2022This project has changed my classroom immensely! Far too often I witness that students read for pleasure less and less. I used to see students carrying books that they would open at the end of class just to try to get a few pages in before their next class. I haven't seen that for years. Because of the wide variety of books I was able to provide through this funding, I have seen an excitement for reading again in my classroom!
During this unit, students first previewed all the music library books by reading a brief synopsis of each book. Then students chose a book to read based on a book that interests them. What a difference that made! They had choices and they had the independence of choosing a book that they would actually enjoy reading!
Once students chose a book, they were given the project rubric, a choice between a literary analysis, iMovie, or comic strip. In the final project, students analyzed characters and plot from their individual books. By giving the rubric to the students at the start of the project, it helped to focus their reading and they could take brief notes as they read.
Students sat in chairs or lounged on the floor as they read their books and were genuinely curious about what would happen next. They enjoyed the independence of choosing a book to read that would interest them! And they learned about music in the process! The students completed their final project once they were finished reading their novel and shared their project with another student in the class who read a different book, expanding their knowledge of a different musician even further.
This is my favorite project in my class and sparked a love of reading in my students! Thank you for making this happen!”
