We Think Our Art Room Deserves a Sink!
Funded Sep 20, 2022Thank you so much for the contributions that helped me buy a portable sink for my art classroom. If it weren't for your donations, we wouldn't be able to paint and clean up our mess with ease. Your donations have helped my students to further develop their creativity, artistic abilities, and abilities to express themselves. If it weren't for this sink, we would be much more limited in the materials we could use. We might even be able to use clay in some of my smaller classes later in the year. Please see the attached photos to see some of the amazing artwork my students made as well as photo of one of my students using the sink. The students love the sink. It's fun!”

Funded Sep 3, 2022Your contributions to help fund this project have really helped me to make my classroom more organized and flow better. 280+ students come in and out of this art room twice and week and that can get messy really fast! So the shelves which were a part of this project have made things so much easier for me to organize and store both materials and student work. The extra paint, gloves, baby wipes and things help me to keep things running smoothly.
Other teachers come into my art room all the time and marvel at how I keep things clean and organized, especially when I have to store materials and work for 11 classes. Often they are doing different projects.
If it weren't for these "odds and ends" materials, I wouldn't have been able to set up such an organized and working classroom. So far my students have explored multiple mixed media drawing projects, a vinyl design project, watercolors, and now we are starting a unit with tempera paint and that is all possible because of your contributions!”

Rising Designers: Art Class Needs Vinyl Printer for Diy Fashion
Funded Apr 13, 2022A little about the project: We started the unit on designing our own vinyl decals by exploring and researching a variety of our favorite fashion brands and having group discussions on aesthetics. Students got to share out examples of specific styles that are current! I learned a lot during this lesson about current trends with teenagers such as what it looks like to have an "e-girl" aesthetic.
After the intro, we moved on to the design portion of the unit. All the 8th graders at my school (that's almost 100 students) are working in groups to come up with their own unique design (sometimes inspired by their favorite brands, games, etc.) Each group is learning how to create layers in design programs and how to make PNGs so we can send those PNGs through the Silhouette program for the vinyl printer/cutter.
We haven't quite finished the project yet, but I can really tell the students are engaged because they're working hard to finish their designs by next week. Some students have begun removing the negative space in their designs. I will begin using the heat press to make their designs permanent by next week. They're so excited that they get to take their original designs home after it's all said and done! And I'm so grateful you helped make this project possible. Check out the photos to see in progress work!”
