Coping With Art!
Funded Dec 19, 2022Our Panthers are very grateful for our new art supplies! They have found new and creative ways to cope with their frustrations and anxiety through art. These resources have used during lunch, after school, during our club meetings, and even at home.
These resources have ignited future artists and have inspired our students to find new creative ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and frustration. Additionally, these resources serve as self-regulation activities.
Our next steps are to coordinate arts and crafts events within our club to foster healthy coping skills.”
With gratitude,

Funded Jul 25, 2022This experience has impacted our lives! At the beginning of the school year, my students were apprehensive about checking out our new class reading nook. However, after explaining the importance of culture, diversity, and inclusion, they began to exhibit interests in the campaign I wrote on Donor Chose. My students were surprised that such campaigns and donations existed, and that when a community comes together many things can be accomplished.
Cultura Reading Nook has inspired my students to build community in class and begin new projects! Besides the edition of a reading nook, our class now distributes bi-weekly bookmarks. The book marks are titled "Cultura Nook", and are designed to mirror diversity in the classroom. Students are excited to see what new designs are brought into the classroom every other week, and have begun to design bookmarks themselves. With personalized bookmarks, students are excited to relax and read, or are welcome to check it out.
This area has truly become a safe space for students, and continues to grow in many ways. For example, our Genders and Sexualities Alliance Club extended the space by adding a table for a crafting area, where students can make buttons, bracelets, and artwork. Thankfully, this space encourages the students to feel comfortable and safe with one another, while enjoying a good book. This experience will continue to encourage and inspire future students to be culturally responsive!”
