Preschool Communication

Funded Aug 25, 2022

The new resources are being used during speech therapy sessions for preschool students with special needs. The new materials are engaging and promote joint attention between the children and adults.

The sorting jars are preferred by students who benefit from a clear beginning and end of the activity. For non-verbal students, we can work on simple commands such as "open" and "more" while using the jars. The jars have been invaluable as a tool for engaging with multiple students. One student always cried and protested when transitioning to speech therapy but once the jars were available as a choice, the student became more willing to participate and is starting to make requests related to this new resource. This is just one example of the way this project has impacted my students.

Thank you for supporting this project to increase communication skills in my young learners. Access to these resources is giving them a jump start in the development of language and a brighter future.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Goodman
