Funded Sep 20, 2022I wanted to again thank you for your generosity for helping transform my classroom into a dynamic learning space. In lieu of a dingy old chalkboard covered in tape residue, students are able to use interchangeable tarps in the space that can serve a variety of purposes. Students enjoy setting up the borders for the tarps and have designed some that reflect various holidays.
In addition to using the tarps as bulletin boards to display their work, students are able to use the tarps as a word wall, as a place to build upon each other's ideas, as a place to leave notes of appreciation for each other, and to conserve space by placing one thematic tarp atop another. The tarps are easily adaptive and interactive with tape which holds beautifully and comes off clean. Putting so many ideas up on our classroom walls would have never been possible using the existing boards and walls that are made of brick to which almost nothing adheres.
I did not anticipate the way that students use the tarps to communicate with each other or add to ideas. Their next plan is to do a Valentine's Day tarp where they will get to post all the things that they love about each other. This has really helped my kids build community as well as pride in their work.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Knippen
