  • Sew High School

    Funded Nov 3, 2024

So many of my students are struggling right now, as so many of us are. Their attention is getting swallowed up by their phones and devices and scary news stories. I have found that one way I can get them to put down their devices and actually engage with each other and with myself is by giving them creative outlets and ways of using their hands to make things. The materials you provided to our library have allowed my students to engage in creative projects and channel their energy in a productive, screen-free way!

The students who asked for sewing and embroidery materials were SO excited when the materials arrived. They looked through the kits and chose their favorites. Our next step, together, is to learn how to use our new sewing machine for our cos-play corner at our school's upcoming Comic Con event in May!

Again, I thank you so much for supporting the work that I do in our school library and allowing our students to make and create and grow.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tartaglione

  • Puzzle It Out in the Library

    Funded Apr 4, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation of 500 piece puzzles that are challenging but not impossible. The students have had so much fun putting them together and it is a joy for me to watch them interact with each other, have conversations and destress in the process. The majority of the puzzles were utilized at the end of the school year, right as test prep and end of the year stress levels are running high. Working on the puzzles at lunch and after school allowed those students to have a bit of a brain break, focusing their attention on something completely different and allowing their minds to wander while they chatted with each other and with me.

Thank you for helping me give my students this small gift of relaxation and me the privilege of being the yes person (they asked specifically for these types of puzzles and helped me choose the puzzles we asked for).”

    With gratitude,

  • The Crochet Crew

    Funded Dec 19, 2023

Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity! The students were SO excited to see all of the beautiful, colorful yarn choices and were so thankful that many new students could join in the crochet party now that we had more hooks to share! The more advanced students loved the crochet kits as it gave them a new challenge.

Students have made hats and book sleeves with the new yarn and others are just practicing their technique and working up to starting an actual project. With the new materials arriving, I took the time to redo our crochet set up to be neater and more easily accessible. There are labeled baskets that hold each student's work in progress and lots of yarn out to choose from.

Thanks to your generosity, we will have enough yarn to last us into the beginning of next school year, to reach an entirely new crew of crocheters! My students and I are incredibly grateful and it is a joy for me to see them put down their devices and actually interact with each other as they crochet!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tartaglione
