Physical Space and Activities Maximize Learning!
Funded Mar 2, 2023My students enjoyed using the new resources. The flex seating was especially helpful and used while students would work on small group work. They also took turns using the different flexible seating and I noticed that students focused a lot better when having the opportunity to use the flex seating.
The students also enjoyed the outdoor games purchased to play during our brain breaks. It was exciting because students were able to work together and get outside to move their bodies. Whenever we did take these breaks, the students came back more focused and ready to learn. They also talked about how fun it was and would always ask when we could play the game again.”

Funded Oct 29, 2022Some skills that were introduced were learning about the different scenarios that we could demonstrate skills such as empathy, kindness respect and being able to identify their different emotions. This was extremely helpful because students had a lot of fun interacting with one another and discussing with their peers different types of solutions. The students also were able to understand what/why their peers answers were different and how those responses were just as "correct" as their answers. What reading looks like a lot in my classroom is having students work together in groups to share their ideas and view points. I believe that students learn best when they are able to communicate with the teacher and their classmates. I believe that being able to read together and learn from each other is something that is irreplaceable because each student brings their wealth of knowledge to share from their own experiences. There are certain students that especially enjoy reading the new books, especially students who can relate to the different book topics/themes that promote kindness, inclusion, and what to do in certain scenarios such as bullying, teasing, etc. These students are able to relate to what the characters are going through in the book and we are able to identify different key events that are in the story and how the character develops based off of the situation. The students really appreciate being able to read books that are so relatable to them. Thank you so much for providing this opportunity for my students!”
