A Classroom Library About Overcoming Adversities
Funded Aug 26, 2022I never imagined my students would appreciate your gift as much as they do. When I tell student's it's adversity reading time there is a quiet "yes!" that echoes across my classroom.
At the beginning of the year, almost half of my kids told me in a survey they don't like reading or don't see themself as a reader. Now, nearly all of them have found a genre, author, or style of book they prefer, and have a plan with where they are heading in reading, and what they want to learn. Most of my students say this is their favorite time of the day. We make coffee (decaf!) and find a comfy spot and read just to read, no quizzes or expectations :) It is so peaceful.
I could not have done this alone. I am humbled by the generosity shown by strangers to me. Thank you all so much for spreading ripples of kindness, healing, and confidence throughout my classroom. You are inspiring the next generation of readers to heal, grow, and overcome.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wilhite
Phet Simulations in the Classroom
Funded Mar 16, 2022I am so grateful to have your help. Most of my students live below the poverty line and the past couple years have been very difficult for them. I’ve always seen education as a way out and try to instill that in them. STEM is such an important and high interest pathway and I hope, with the help you provided, to get them invested in their education to help improve their future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wilhite
