The students in Rivera Elementary School are mainly Hispanic. The students all live in the surrounding community. Most of them walk to school or are dropped off and picked up by relatives. The school has over 90% free lunch. Most of the students are able to bring school supplies but there are have several who just can’t afford it.
The school we work in is very old. The original countertops are still there only they have pieces ripped out of them making them stand out. The upkeep of painting usually comes from the teachers. It is a terrific school because of the staff and students. It lacks items that can help make the teacher and her students more comfortable.
