Tech & Comfort Resources for ELLs
Funded Nov 28, 2023My students are loving their new class resources! When they found out that they have extra comfy seating choices and new technology to learn with, they were beyond excited. Most ask every single day to sit in an alternative seat or use one of our newest learning tools. A real favorite among students is the papasan chair, which they can take turns sitting in to complete work online or for a chill place to read a book! Some students just like the idea of having space to do their work away from the rest of their classmates.
With a new class set of computer mice, students are finding it way easier to annotate documents than the (sometimes worn out) tracker pads on their Chromebooks. Taking state assessments like the AZELLA was also made easier with these tools. Having a mouse lessened the students' frustrations when they had to drag-and-drop items or use drop-down menus to answer a question.
Our new materials center aids in the day-to-day workings of our classroom, making it easier for students to find and return mice, headsets and other resources. Students know that they are always welcome to utilize these new class resources, and they know how to treat them respectfully so that they last us as long as possible! Thank you for making these things possible!”

Funded Nov 28, 2023My students and I are so appreciative of your support! With the funds you donated, our school's Kindness Art Club has been busy creating and distributing works of art across our campus.
Our "canvases" are white ceiling tiles that we borrow from a classroom. Kindness Art students plan an image and motivational quote. They either create original art or pull an image they feel fits their quote from the Internet. The image is then projected and traced onto the tile. Students spend weeks painting each tile, as they take pride in their work! When they are finished, tiles are secreted back into the classroom as a surprise.
Students' artwork and motivational messages are meant to inspire all who visit those rooms. We have had a wonderful response to the beautiful artwork and messages shared so far. My students and I look forward to spreading more kind words and art throughout the school! With your donations, we are able to do that!”

Funded Oct 23, 2022My students are absolutely loving their new alternative seating! Being comfortable is an important part of being able to pay attention for anyone. For a middle school student, it is also very important to have a choice - how and where they are seated is no exception. I love that my students are able to show personal responsibility and agency for recognizing the way that they learn best. Sometimes, it provides an opportunity for growth and the correction of mistakes - such as deciding with whom they can work together best in a more relaxed atmosphere. The options for types of seating that students have has doubled in my classroom, which benefits them greatly. I also allow students from a neighboring room to use the area when I do not have a class of my own, which makes this personalized seating open to even more students. Thank you so much for making this new learning opportunity a reality for our students. We appreciate you!”

Funded Aug 23, 2022Your contribution to our classroom is wonderful, and it has helped in BIG ways! Now, students have colorful vocabulary references to help them navigate their learning of a new language. It is difficult to help students with language barriers without extra resources like the color printer, copy paper and extras like erasable highlighters, that have been graciously provided through donations like yours. Our students now have the opportunity to put a picture with the words they are hearing/seeing, and that has been proven to help language learners acquire a new language much more quickly. So, THANK YOU!”

Return to Reading for Fun!
Funded Mar 9, 2022My students and I are using our new Reading Relaxation Station as alternative seating for those that need a comfortable space away from their peers to complete an assignment. When we get into our novel studies and free reading time, students will be able to earn time to read, leaning on soft pillows seated on our new fuzzy carpet. When my students first saw their new area to read and learn, they were super excited and wanted to know how and when they would be able to utilize the new space.
The new bookshelf purchased with the rest of our funds is home to part of our class library and various resource books. Students are able to check out books that they may take home or read during Free Read time in class using an old-school library card system. The more bookshelves we have, the more books I can display! So, THANK YOU!
My students and I are wholly appreciative of our new class resources. They will be used well.”
