Funded Feb 19, 2024The resources donated by donor's choose brought so much excitement and motivation to my classroom! Many of the supplies we wished for were prizes and incentives for our Class Equity store. My students work hard weekly to fulfill their responsibilities as a student and their assigned classroom job. Seeing new items in the store gave them a sense of pride in seeing all their hard work pay off toward something they really liked. Some of the popular purchases were the mochi squishes, 3D erasers, brain teasers and collapsable pens.
Another one of the supplies that really impacted my classroom were the noise canceling headphones. It helped relieve some of the stress that came along with standardized testing and provided students with something to help them feel prepared to give their best. It was encouraging to see students show respect and care of the items donated to our class. Since the headphones are a 'shared' material, students sanitized them and neatly rolled up the wires daily to ensure other students would be able to enjoy them for future uses.
Thank you donor's choose for supporting our project and making an impact on our building equity project!”

Funded Oct 29, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my class' "Building Community and Creative Minds" project! From the board games to art supplies and fidgets, they have made a big impact in our classroom. When the materials first arrived, they were so excited to start creating new things as well as learning new types of board games.
The board games came in handy this last month since we had almost 3 straight weeks of indoor recess due to rainy weather. The board games are an easy way for the kids to unwind and play during recess. I also noticed that it was a way to bring different groups of friends together that normally don't socialize together during recess (due to different interests in sports or outdoor activities).”

Mrs. Labiste

Funded Mar 8, 2022Our class is using our new resources daily and it has made a noticeable impact on our learning and growth as a community of learners! Prior to this school year, the pandemic made it a challenge for students to work collaboratively in groups due to limits on proximity. I felt that this did hinder our ability to be flexible in our seating as well as build those meaningful connections with one another. That is why I decided to create this community building project. My goal was for students to have a way to build relationships in a fun and relatable way as well as work collaboratively through flexible seating.
When we first received the materials, my class was ecstatic! Of course they were quickly drawn to the Nintendo Switch because many of the class plays video games at home. I used the Nintendo Switch to help new students build friendships in the class. They are able to invite their classmates to play a game during recess and it allows them to get to know each other on a neutral ground. Students get excited to play together and it takes away the pressure being the new kid in class. We all know how hard that can be. They also loved the flexible seating! After hours of sitting at their desks, students love having the option to sit on the floor or in different areas of the classroom. With the seat cushions, now we can do this comfortably and students get excited about working in groups!”
