Speech Updates
Funded May 9, 2023Thank you so much for supporting our library and Speech and Language Pathologist! We are very excited to finally have a classroom dedicated to our SLP program. The picture frames, whiteboard markers and magnets will help create a welcoming environment as well as display student work and teaching materials.
The books are a wonderful addition to our school library. We will use these books to build motivation and interest in reading. We looked for books series that are popular to add to as well as new diverse titles the will strengthen our students' love of reading. Thank you so much for your support!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bentley

Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you so much for helping us buy these new wonderful books! We were able to add to our Spanish Language collection as we continue to get a growing number of students who are bilingual.
We also added to our highly requested sections of I Spy books, cook books and graphic novels (formerly known as comic books). The students will be so excited to see some updated books in these collections since our other copies are very well loved and showing their age.
Our 6th graders read The Lightning Thief and study Greek Mythology each year. We are always looking for more Greek Mythology books too. Thank you again for your generous donation!”

Funded Feb 12, 2023Thank you so much for helping to diversify our library! March is Read Across America Month sponsored by the American Library Association. It used to be jointly sponsored by the Dr. Seuss foundation as well. Several years ago the ALA moved away from the Dr. Seuss focus and moved towards promoting diversity. The theme is "Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers." The books purchased for this project have made it possible for us to have books representing our nation of diverse readers and our students.
Each March, I challenge students to read a book that has a character that is different from them in some way. The character could be a different gender, speak a different language, be from a different country, be attracted to different people (LGBTQ), have different abilities, etc... Through this project I hope that our students get exposure to lives that are different from their own. I also present a challenge for me to my students - that if they have never read a book with a character that is similar to them to let me know so that I can find one for them. The first year I conducted this challenge, I discovered that we were terribly short on books that represented our student population. Your donation helped to change that!”
