I will be starting a novel study in a couple of weeks where my 7th graders will be exposed to the Socratic seminar! I want them to want to participate and I believe that the resources listed will help me provide an engaging novel study for my students. I will be assigning students a book to keep in the classroom. We will read together and they will complete several different kinds of activities on their own. The Socratic seminar will be a collaborative exercise in which students learn to listen, use text evidence to support their opinions, and tolerate different points of view.
