  • Mrs. Mejia

    Funded Feb 8, 2024

I am writing this to let you know how grateful I am to be able to allow my students learning opportunities using a variety of materials. My students are able to explore and use the new materials during free play. The new materials allow for opportunities to teach my student's social skills, turn-taking, build vocabulary, fine motor skills, and much more. My students really enjoy using thier hands to build things, so they were very excited to use new manipulatives to build with. My next steps are to keep allowing them to build items and to take pictures and allow them to tell staff and parents what their creation is. Again, thank you so much for donating to my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mejia

  • Mrs. Mejia's Structured Activities

    Funded Mar 3, 2023

I would like to express my gratitude for the items I was able to receive for my classroom. My students are socially delayed and lack fine motor skills. A project we did was a group center of Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. We were able to work on language (requesting), fine motor skills, turn-taking, and labeling body parts. This gave me and my staff great data to track progress in those areas for my student just from those toys alone.

My students were so excited to see the new items. They loved playing with the cash register and the crayon color sorting because it came with manipulatives for my hands-on learners.

My next step for my students is to continue to work on fine motor skills and social skills with their peers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mejia

  • Mrs. Mejia's Sensory Wish List

    Funded Apr 18, 2022

Hi all! I want to start off by saying thank you all so much for your support! My students are preschool-aged students, so they enjoy having a variety of activities to choose from. I ordered sensory mats and the students enjoyed touching and stepping on the mats. The students were also learning how to share and take turns, even socialize amongst each other.

My students were offered a few of the items slowly so they would stay novel. I offered the barbies , mats, and pretend food play toys. They were fascinated for hours. They sat and explored for an hour with the items. I also ordered chewies for my students who have oral sensory motor needs. The chewies helped them sit during large group activities.

I am now teaching a structured level classroom, where the needs of my students have changed a bit. I want to work on putting a new list of activities, materials, and games for my current students. Again, thank you so much for your support for my students! I truly appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mejia
