The single material that I have picked for my project will allow the students in my classroom take learning into their own hands (literally). Growing up, one class rule that followed me all the way through school was "DO NOT WRITE ON THE TABLE!". With this resource, that rule will be thrown out and open the door to a whole new learning experience. My project is one that will be beneficial for multiple subjects and grades! It will allow students to practice and work on skills on their own and in their own unique way. For example; in reading the students will be able to practice writing, sounding, and spelling out sight words. This skill can then be moved into written expression where the students can practice writing complete and correct sentences on the table. Flip it around and move on to math. Students will be able to work out math problems on the table with plenty of space for different strategies, as well as mistakes. When learning a new skill, especially in math, students are going to mess up, skip steps, write the wrong numbers, etc. This material will make it easier for these students to spot that mistake and fix it with just a simple swipe of an eraser. This project will provide a new and fun way for students to steer away from the same old worksheets and scrap paper and provide them with a engaging way to perfect the skills they are working on.
