Black history is American history. The achievements and struggles of Black people are intertwined within the American past. My students come from a variety of ethnic, economic, and linguistic backgrounds. One thing they share is a love of learning. I want to affirm my Black students and students of color with print rich decor that represents them. My students deserve a setting that is reflective of them and shares contributions made by people of different backgrounds. I hope that when my students see this representation they will feel appreciated and remind them that they are important. It is my hope that my students will become more interested in science and social studies after seeing what others that look like them, other African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, and women.

About my class
