The superheroes I teach are medically fragile with cognitive delays and physical challenges. These donations would help them succeed in completing tasks around the classroom. . For my superheroes with physical disabilities, the seating would assist them in developing their muscle to sit upright individually. Sitting upright would allow the students to interact with each other during circle and play time. Superheroes need time to interact to learn new things from each other. This interaction would be increased through new seating. As an added benefit, the building of these muscles would improve their health. Such improvements include increased lung expansion for better breathing, improved digestion and increased circulation to name a few.
Your donation would greatly enhance the abilities of my superheroes and create an energizing environment ideal for learning. For my students with cognitive delays, the sensory toys would improve their attention span. The role of a superhero is not a simple one. These sensory toys can help extend their attention span when it’s time to receive their next task. The lights and music on the toys would increase the students’ alertness as well. Being alert will prepare my superheroes in times of chaos and confusion. Sensory toys also have a calming effect upon my students. Due to the demanding job of a superhero, there has to be a resting and calming period. Sometimes when these superheroes are overstimulated, playing with a toy that plays music calms them down. The addition of sensory toys and seating would not only increase the learning power of my superheroes, but increase the amount of fun they have in my classroom!
