Many students learn best when they are able to use manipulatives and get to use their hands instead of just seeing the teacher work out the problems on the board. Using the hands-on math manipulatives will allow each of my students to do what I am doing on the board at their desk. This approach will help keep my students more interested and will allow them to ask questions when they get stuck on a problem we are working on in math. Students that are struggling often benefit from the hands-on approach because it allows them to visually see what they are doing and why they are doing it instead of just listening to what the teacher is telling them. Students will find these lessons more exciting and engaging! Using hands-on materials will allow students to grow in the mathematical world that we live in.
