Students who have the opportunity to practice phonemic and phonics skills are stronger writers and express themselves in the written word better than those who are minimally exposed. These items I request are meant to allow students to work with their learning in a structured fashion, with self corrective feedback and formative evaluation power built in for the teacher. With this practice, comes the opportunity to synthesize learning which produces a product that is data based and differentiation driven. Teachers benefit from being able to see what students do as it affords them insight into their thinking and processing. It also helps to identify certain deficits and red flags in learning. These products will be used in structured workstation times where students are monitored for skill progression, along with engagement in written work. this gives students confidence in expressing their emotions and thoughts in a way that gives them their own agency.
