Reading has slowly found its way to the bottom of most teens' priority lists. And no wonder! With classroom libraries, mostly furnished by their teachers, the titles are often old and student choice is very limited. One of my goals as a Literacy teacher is to reignite their love for reading so that it can climb its way to their "Top Ten" activities to do for pleasure! One of the most effective ways to achieve this is having access to the newest titles and an easy way to check the books out. My students are encouraged to take books from my library home with them and return them when they are finished. This encourages them to complete it at their leisure based on their choices! Help me reignite the love of reading for the next generation of readers by removing barriers, such as antiquated titles and limited accessibility. Several titles I have requested multiple copies for use in our classroom literature circles. With Covid-19 and student absences, having enough books that every student can have their own is ideal. This allows students to continue to be part of the lit circle even while at home.
