Our immigrant students in the South Bronx are problem-solvers, creative, and self-reliant! When given the opportunity to engage, explore, and investigate, our students will persevere in learning and become curious about how things work. When I survey my students' preferential learning, the majority of them would like to have hands-on activities that will help them plan, develop, troubleshoot, and design a project that is useful and engaging at the same time. I had professional training for physical computing that I can use to facilitate a series of sessions working with Arduinos. With the single board microcontroller, these Arduino starter kits will help us facilitate an open space for all students who are curious to understand how different circuits work, allowing them to become familiar with electrical engineering and design that is only limited by their imagination. This project will allow my students to examine how to solve common problems that they experience in their daily lives that involve technology ranging from developing a prototype, understanding how circuits work, and building simulation projects as they creatively find appropriate solutions to problems.
