My learners will use the requested hands-on learning materials on a daily basis during whole-group ‘Carpet Time’, free-choice ‘Center Time’ and also during ‘Small Groups’ (teacher-directed learning time). With translucent magnetic tiles my learners will have a fun way to explore geometry concepts (symmetry, angles, area & more) as they build! They will have fun practicing counting skills from 1 to 10 as they press numbered tubes over balls to pick up, counting as they go while building eye/hand coordination! Alphabet practice will be turned into a more tactile experience with oversized, gel filled letters that are textured. They can trace and squeeze them, promoting sensory play and letter recognition. Open-ended building and imaginative play will be fostered in my learners by creating robots and dinosaurs by snapping together wooden parts. Mixing and matching the parts that have easy snap connections will help them sharpen their fine motor skills and practice shape recognition! The requested manipulatives will help create a strong foundation of early development in fine motor skills, math, literacy and social development skills that they will continue to build upon for years to come. My pre-k learners and I would be thrilled to receive the fun, hands-on activities requested here that would help them develop number sense and learn to count with one-to-one correspondence, strengthen muscles in their hands and fingers which help develop their fine motor skills, enhance eye-hand coordination and movements, encourage their imagination and build vocabulary through pretend play, and help encourage social development and language skills through partner and group play with their peers.
