Students need supplemental items in school. A donation to this project will give all students the opportunity to engage in reading in a literary circle. This project will also allow students the opportunity to create art that allows them to explore literature in different manners. Providing students with the opportunity to create and read involves multiple parts of the brain. Providing engaging activities with literature increases student interest. My students read To Kill a Mockingbird in sophomore year. Placing a book in a student’s hand will help ensure learning/instruction continues with distance learning. I would like to ensure each student has a copy of the book to read. Producing art with literature will give students an opportunity to make a special connection with the story. My students also read “Masque of the Red Death” sophomore year. I would like to give them the opportunity to decorate a masquerade mask to couple art with the text, providing a unique experience for students to engage with Poe and a pandemic. This art project will help students identify with theme and critically analyze the text. Utilizing group dynamics with literature will help readers engage in understanding and analysis.
